I like you.
I really do….
I like you a lot…
I think we can be great friends!
Not just any kind of friends but friends that bake each other delicious treats, like my Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake. That’s right its a cookie and a cake combined, and if your really nice I’ll even add vanilla ice cream with hot fudge…
How does that sound to you…
Would you like to be my friend?
PrintChocolate Chip Cookie Cake
Ingredients
1 stick butter, unsalted
1 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt together in a medium bowl and set aside.
Using a stand mixer or a hand mixer, cream the butter, light brown sugar, and vanilla extract on medium speed until well combined, about 1 minute.
Stop the mixer, scrape down the sides of the bowl, and add the egg. Blend on medium speed for 30 seconds.
Add the dry ingredients and combine on low speed until just a few dry streaks remain.
Add the chocolate chips and mix for a few seconds until combined. Scrape the batter into a greased and lined 9-inch round cake pan.
Press the batter into a smooth and even layer in the pan. Bake until lightly golden and puffy around the edges (the center should still feel quite soft), 18 – 22 minutes.
Cool for 10 minutes and then run a paring knife around the edge of the pan to release the cake.
Cool for at least 4 hours before turning the cake out of the pan and onto a large plate.
Slice then serve…
Enjoy!

Where can you buy a cookie cake pan if you want to make one bigger than a cake pan or pie pan, besides pizza pans?
You can get one at any cake decorating store. I know here in Orlando we have one called D & G Occasions. I LOVE it!
Y U M M Y!!!! I made this today and piped chocolate frosting on top. This recipe is for sure a W I N N E R!
What would I add more of to make this a little more fluffy and cake like? It’s good but I wanted the consistancy a little lighter.
This recipe is perfect for a cookie cake. I baked mine in a heart-shaped pan and it came out great! Thank you for sharing!
The recipie s really good but it tasted like there was a lot of salt in it or something and how come you have to use so much butter???
So yummy though!!! 🙂 <3
When this cookie cake comes out of the oven it is going to taste SO good!!!
We made a cookie cake too! What we did was melt the butter in the microwave for 1:00 minute, then we put the hot butter in the bowl with the cookie mixed the hot butter melted all of the chocolate, which made the dough a medium brown. We put the half a cup of milk in the bowl to make it smooth. then we got a glass bowl and put the mix in it. But before we put the cookie mix in we spreaded a stick of butter all over the glass bowl. Then we smoothed the surface with a spoon and sprinkled hot chococlate powder with the marshmellos over the top of the cookie cake. It was so good with the milky smooth taste and the melted chocolate also you can’t forget the yummy marshmellos! It was the best cookie cake ever!!! You guys have to try this recipe you won’t regret it!!! xD
What did you use to line the pan?
Jackie,
I used wax paper cut on the shape of my circular pan. Then I sprayed it with cooking spray. Hope this helps. 🙂

I wanted to thank you so much for this recipe. I used it to make a cookie cake for my son’s birthday and it was AWESOME! Got rave reviews from everyone.
I doubled the recipe and it was the perfect amount for a bar pan.
I was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside– so GOOD!
He wants me to make another one for his 2nd bday party this weekend.
Thanks again– A KEEPER!!!
is ithe cookie chewy?
Ana,
Crisp in the outside and chewy on the inside. I always like to underbake my cookies… 🙂
I doubled the recipe and it fit perfectly in a 12″ cake pan (round) for a birthday cookie. Baking 30 minutes at 350* left left it just right – gooey inside but done outside. Thanks for the awesome recipe!
[…] that birthday cake look and feel. Slice and eat that bad boy! Hope you enjoy! (recipe adapted from this original recipe) *Kind of ironic I am posting this on the first day of Lent, as Gabe and I are giving up sweets! […]
