For those that do not know what buttermilk is, it is the liquid left over from churning butter from cream. It is slightly thicker in texture than regular milk, but not as heavy as cream.
If a recipe calls for the use of buttermilk and you are wondering what you can do in replace of it, try this.
Add one tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice to a cup of milk/soymilk to replace buttermilk and mix well. It may not have that same strong intense flavor of buttermilk but it will be close and have a similar flavor to it.
