It’s candy making time, and this is the perfect treat to begin the baking days ahead… Christmas Crack… YOUR WELCOME!
December is here. December 5th to be exact.
Just 20 more days until the big ol’ jolly fella slides down our chimney — or in Florida… the front door– and drops off gifts for all the boys and girls. Of course along the way he’ll eat some tasty treats that are left behind for him.
Have you done your Christmas shopping yet? If you said No it’s alright I haven’t either… actually I lie I think I have 1 present bought… Take a look at our 2017 Christmas Guides for Teens Boys & Girls, For that special Him. More are on their way as well, for the Foodie, For Her, For the Beauty Lovers, & Toddlers.
Which brings me to the topic on hand… Christmas Cookies, Candies, Treats galore! I love this time because I love baking sweets and sharing them with friends and family. For example this one…
Christmas Crack.
YES… that is what they call this treat of salty & sweet goodness that’s layered with crackers, brown sugar toffee filling, and then of course chocolate on top with sprinkles.
Layer the saltine crackers, salt side up in a single layer next to one another.
Melt butter and brown sugar together, stirring until bubbly.
Pour onto crackers, just make sure the crackers stay in one layer. They may try to rise over the toffee mixture.
Bake in oven at 400 degrees for 5-8 minutes.
Sprinkle chocolate chips all over. Allow them to soften and start to melt.
With the back of a spoon spread the chocolate all over.
Sprinkle with sprinkles of your choice, or you can nuts, candy or whatever you choose.
Place in the refrigerator until set and firm.
Break up into pieces small or big… try not to eat them while you do it too!
and there you have it Christmas Crack…
I guess its given its special name because you cant just eat one small bite…
This toffee is so simple to make and will take 20 mins to make. Plus it only takes 4 ingredients and if you want to add nuts, sprinkles, dried fruit or candies of your choice you can too.
Let’s start baking…
