What is it about garlic, herbs, and fresh bread baking in the oven that brings strangers out of the wood work. 🙂
Nothing warms up a house like fresh homemade focaccia. Focaccia, just the sound of it sounds delicious. If you have never tried this delectable Italian flatbread.
This recipe I found while perusing one of my oh so many cooking magazines, I knew I just had to try it. This one is so easy to make and really tastes delicious when straight out of the oven. I had to literally tell my sister to STOP eating it after it was done cooking. She almost ate the whole entire thing.
I hope you enjoy it as much my sister did! 🙂
Start with a pre-made pizza dough. I bought the one you find in the refrigerated section in Publix. This specific one is used to make pizza. On a floured surface roll out the dough into a 10-by-15 inch rectangle. Press into an oiled rimmed baking sheet.
Chop up sprigs of rosemary and oregano. The smell of these two combined smells so fresh and alive. Its a wonderful mix. After mix in a small bowl olive oil, red pepper flakes, and sea salt.
Then brush half of the herb oil over the dough, then set aside until puffy, for about an hour.
Once it has set, make dimples in the dough with your fingers and top with thin slices of onions and shaved parmigiano. I did not put as much as I wold of liked, but will definitely next time.
Bake at 400 degrees F for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with remaining herb oil when finished cooking.
Enjoy!
