There’s nothing better than making homemade pizza sauce. Pizza sauce is so versatile you can pretty much add whatever ingredients you like in it. I use a basic sauce that would please anyones pallet. All you need is tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, sugar, garlic, and olive oil.
It’s that simple!
Homemade Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
2 cloves fresh garlic
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sugar (reduces acidity)
1-16 ounce can of tomato sauce
1/2 of a 6-ounce can of tomato paste
2 tablespoons olive oil
salt to taste
Directions
Mince the 2 large cloves of fresh garlic. Saute the garlic in 2 tablespoons of olive oil (until lightly brown). Add the tomato sauce and paste and all the ingredients. Stir and heat until the sauce comes to a boil and then put a lid on your pot and turn it off. Let your pizza sauce cool and it is ready to use.
Enjoy!
Great minds think alike. Mine is almost exactly the same, but I usually use diced tomatoes instead of sauce and use the Publix Italian seasoning instead of oregano and basil. I think it has a little rosemary in it. And I would use the sugar, but hubby hates sweet sauce, so it has to be extra tangy!
Love it Angie…. great minds do think alike… simple yet delicious! 😉
